TRAVEL BOOK

Day 1: Rio De Janeiro - Niterói - Santa Teresa

Airport pick up (time and flight number to be confirmed) and transfer to the hotel.



At 14:00pm, your English-speaking guide will meet you at the hotel.

After crossing the President Costa e Silva bridge (over 13 km in length) linking Rio to Niteroi, you will start the visit by a walk near the fort, from where you can enjoy a great view of the Guanabara Bay and the Sugarloaf, its colossal guardian. Guided visit of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), famous for its original architecture (the work of Oscar Niemeyer, emblematic architect of Brazil since his implication in the construction of Brasilia). Permanent and varied exhibitions, but always… surprising.

Finish in beauty with a walk in the Park da Cidade to enjoy the outstanding view of Rio de Janeiro, on the other side of the Bay.
Return to the hotel at 18:00pm.

Note: excursion of 3 to 4 hours best recommended in the morning.

Recommended for lunch: Jurujuba. In this little fishing village, near the fort of Santa Cruz, you will find many typical restaurants. Fish and seafood are of course the specialty.

Day 2: Rio De Janeiro - Botanic Garden - Tijuca Forest - Corcovado - Santa Teresa

Your english speaking guide will meet you at the hotel at 09:00am for a city tour.

You will start the visit with the impressive botanical garden, proudness of the cariocas. Each of the 141 hectares of the park hosts species of the brazilian and world flora. The imperial palm trees, main attraction of the garden, were seeded under the order of the regent prince Dom Joao VI in 1809. centenary trees, orchids, vtorias regia, bromeliads, flamboyants in an atmosphere filled with tropical scents.

Free time to wander to your own pace between the water pools and to enjoy the freshness and peacefulness of the place.

Then transfer to the Tijuca national park in the centre of Rio. This oasis of vegetation of 3,200 hectares is the biggest urban forest in the world and is he best opportunity to hike both "around" and "in" Rio. You will pass through the "vista chinesa" and the "mesa do Imperador" which are great viewing points of the city.

In the afternoon, climb up the Corcovado (700 m el.) a worldly known symbol of Rio. At the summit take the time to appreciate the unique and wonderful panoramic view of the cidade maravilhosa in front of you.

Day 3: Rio De Janeiro - Historical Center - Sugarloaf Mountain - Santa Teresa

At 09:00am you will meet your English-speaking guide for a private visit of Rio’s city center, from a colossal avenue framed by imposing glass buildings to quaint, small streets and their little affordable shops. Many styles, one spirit, is the best definition to describe the architectural cocktail of the center, where past and modernism coexist in harmony. Among the possible visits (to be coordinated with the guide depending on opening times, your centers of interest, or eventual manifestations organized that day): Imperial Municipal (replicate of the Opera Garnier in France), foundation Banco do Brasil, casa da França (old custom house), national History museum, largo da Carioca, convento Santo Antônio, metropolitan cathedral, plaza Tiradentes...


In the afternoon, take the cable cart to the summit of the Sugarloaf (el. 400 m.a.s.l.), another Rio´s symbol which marks the entrance of the Bay of Guanabara.


Return to the hotel at 05:00pm.

Day 4: Rio De Janeiro - Cuiabá - Atla Floresta

Transfer to the airport 3 hours prior to departure. Flight from Rio de Janeiro (flight time and number to be confirmed).



After a two hour flight, you will leave in an all terrain vehicle for a one hour and a half drive then you will get on a boat to reach the lodge (30 minutes). At your arrival, you will be shown around the lodge and you will get to know how it follows a program to respect the environment.

Night at the Cristalino Jungle Lodge.

Note: transfers are set at 3:30pm to reach the lodge at 5pm.

The Ariranha program lasts four days. This eco-touristic tour has been planned for people who want to experience an unforgettable Amazon Rainforest. Our specialized guide will take us to the different roads around the lodge to help us get acquainted with the local flora and fauna. Sunshine and sunset will be precious moments at the top of the observation tour of the lodge.

Among the activities we offer are:
- Canoeing to admire the wildlife along the river
- Hiking
- Observation tower, 5 meters high, to admire the forest
- Fauna and flora sighting. Your guide will inform you of the different mammals, reptiles, birds, insects and various plants.

Day 5: Atla Floresta

In the morning, beginning of our "Trilha das rochas" hike to discover granite formations exposing ornamental flowers. You will climb up the 50 meters of the tour to be on top of the trees to have the most fabulous view. Various monkeys and birds can be spotted.

The walk continues on the Figueira road. The road takes it name from a large tree which is part of the landscape. The road ends at Taboca, a zone that is flooded every year for a few months. You will have greater chances of spotting monkeys at around that time.

Day 6: Atla Floresta

In the morning, head to the Saleiro house, a rustic huts built in the middle of the reserve. Here, many mammals feed themselves on minerals present in the area. There are tapirs, collared peccaries, white-lipped peccaries, two types of anteaters.

In the afternoon, take a boat trip then walk on the famous Castanheira road, in an area where hundred years old trees rest. You will feel tiny beside those giants of the forest. On the way, listen to the musician wren (bird), one of the best musicians of this forest.

At the end of the day, you can go for a canoe trip.

Day 7: Atla Floresta

In the morning, a small boat trip and a walk on the Serra road, mountainous space where the vegetation is dryer, and leafs fall at a certain time of the year. It is a special hike since it makes for a great view of the forest and allows to spot some monkeys.

In the afternoon, small boat trip to the Teles Pires Island, where many parrots live, from parakeets to macaws and oxpeckers.
Sunset on the river is something you cannot miss.

Day 8: Atla Floresta - Cuiabá - Fortaleza

In the morning, a last walk to the Taipiri road, where you can admire, among other species, the spider monkey with its white face, symbol of the Cristalino Park.
Transfer back to the lodge followed by transfer to the airport.

Day 9: Fortaleza - Guajiru

Departure from the hotel at 09:00am in a dune buggy. After an hour drive, you pass Cumbuco, still touristy and close to town.

You pass near the lagunas of Parnamirim and of Banana before passing the village of Taíba, built around one street and with more coconut trees than vehicles. Then Pecém and its long quiet beaches, before crossing Rio Suipé, between dunes and swamps. You skirt various beaches: Lagoinha (one of the most beautiful), Pedra do Melo, Carnaubinha, Barra and Pericoara, all offering endless swimming options.

In the afternoon, you reach Guajirú, a picturesque fishermen’s village, practically deserted, facing reefs and their natural pools inhabited by myriads of small fish.

Day 11: Guajiru - Jericoacoara

To reach Jericoacoara, you follow the splendid coast over 125 miles, passing 12 beaches and the town of Itatipoca, nestled between the sertão and the coast. You already picture your arrival in Jericoacoara and the sunset you will see from the dunes. It is hard to imagine a more romantic place… perfect for a rest then?? It all depends on the locals, and of their desire to sweep you away with a frenzied and sensual forro.

Day 12: Jericoacoara
